Gerhard Richter, 48 Portraits (1998)

From SFMOMA’s website: Be it a rural landscape, a colorful gestural abstraction, or a black-and-white painting based on a family snapshot or image from the newspaper, a certain set of tensions consistently drives Richter’s work: belief versus skepticism, gesture versus erasure, planning versus chance, personal engagement versus objective neutrality.

Finally got to the incredible Cindy Sherman exhibit at the MoMA.  I will always toast to a life (and strive to have one) filled with intriguing characters, fairy tales, experimentation, and reinventing oneself.  She is a beacon.
It’s only through June 11th, so if you haven’t seen it yet, get goin!

Cindy Sherman closes at MoMA this weekend, meaning it’s almost time for her work to be de-installed, packed up, and shipped on over to SFMOMA. San Franciscans, rejoice.
