Our installation crew is putting the finishing touches on our Cindy Sherman exhibition today, as the media preview will take place tomorrow morning. Exciting!
Pictured: installation of Sherman’s large-scale photographic mural, which wraps around the wall on our 4th-floor landing and welcomes visitors into the exhibition.

Today marks the 105th birthday of Frida Kahlo!
Known for her fantastical imagery and folkloric style, Kahlo earned recognition among the Surrealists, but her intriguing persona and originality propelled her beyond the confines of a specific movement to become a leading figure in modern art.
Pictured: photos taken during our 2008 Frida Kahlo retrospective, when artist Rene Yanez gathered many actresses at SFMOMA to portray the iconic and much beloved artist for a piece called “Pasion por Frida.”

As part of an extensive Rauschenberg research project, SFMOMA staff took infrared pictures of the piece to see what the original de Kooning sketch may have looked like. Click here to see what they found!
Hungry for more? “Like” the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and check out the Tate’s virtual “Gallery of Lost Art,” which takes a deeper look at Erased de Kooning Drawing.
